Air India has recently made an important announcement in regards to its narrow-body flight operations. The airline is taking a temporary measure by reducing 118 weekly flights across 19 routes, with services on three specific routes being suspended until at least July 15, 2025. This decision, as Air India described it in their statement released on June 22, 2025, is a voluntary step aimed at improving operational stability and minimizing last-minute disruptions for passengers. The airline emphasized that these recent cuts, accounting for less than five percent of its narrow-body network, are essential for the overall network's stability.

The suspended routes include Bengaluru (BLR) to Singapore (SIN), Pune (PNQ) to Singapore (SIN), and Mumbai (BOM) to Bagdogra (IXB). Notably, each of these routes will experience a full suspension of at least seven weekly flights. Additionally, routes such as Delhi (DEL) to Bengaluru (BLR) and Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM) will witness operations with fewer flights. Despite these adjustments, Air India will continue to operate close to 600 narrow-body flights daily, covering 120 domestic and short-haul international routes.

Air India expressed regret for any inconvenience caused to affected passengers and assured that they are proactively reaching out to those impacted. Passengers have the option for re-accommodation on alternative flights, complimentary rescheduling, or full refunds as per their preference. The revised flight schedule can be viewed on their website as they aim to restore their full schedule as promptly as possible while prioritizing the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft.

This recent decision by Air India follows a similar reduction in wide-body international flights announced earlier in June due to various factors including enhanced safety inspections following an unfortunate Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash. The airline highlighted that these steps, including the recent cuts in narrow-body operations, are crucial for ensuring network stability amidst challenges such as airspace restrictions and curfews at major international airports. The commitment to prioritizing safety and operational stability underscores Air India's ongoing efforts to navigate through current challenges effectively.
