Air India has unveiled the revamped look of its first retrofitted Airbus A320neo aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the airline's continuous efforts to enhance its passenger experience. The aircraft, bearing the registration VT-EXN, has undergone a comprehensive cabin refit to align with the new product specifications and standards set by the airline's owner, Tata Group. This refurbishment includes a complete overhaul with new seats, carpets, curtains, and an updated cabin ambiance, presenting a fresh three-class configuration in line with Air India's renewed branding.
The initiative is part of a larger $400-million retrofit program aimed at modernizing a total of 67 legacy aircraft in Air India's fleet, comprising 27 narrowbody and 40 widebody planes. VT-EXN stands as a symbolic representation of the airline's evolution, having been diligently refurbished to meet the latest Air India standards. With the retrofit journey commencing in September 2024, the transformation of the legacy narrowbody fleet is anticipated to conclude by the third quarter of 2025, followed by the modernization of the widebody aircraft.
Pilotcenter.net News shares that the retrofit scheme for the Airbus A320neo series involves the installment of more than 3,500 brand-new economy class seats, over 600 premium economy seats, and 200 business class seats, along with premium leather, quality fabric, and new carpeting to facilitate a seamless reconfiguration process. The enhanced A320neo aircraft will operate primarily on domestic and short-haul international flights, synergizing with the 14 new A320neos recently introduced into the fleet.
Each refurbished A320neo aircraft boasts advanced features like interior ambiance lighting, increased legroom, and modern amenities such as PED holders and USB ports, enriching the overall in-flight experience for passengers. VT-EXN, which originally joined Air India's fleet in January 2019, has transcended its previous 'sunrise' livery to showcase the airline's new branding, embodying a sleek and contemporary design. The incorporation of luxury business seats, premium economy options, and ergonomic economy class configurations reflects Air India's commitment to delivering excellence in air travel.
The endeavor to revitalize the airline's legacy fleet signifies a transformative phase for Air India, emphasizing a dedication to innovation, passenger comfort, and operational efficiency. As each aircraft emerges from the refurbishment process, it symbolizes a new chapter in Air India's journey towards providing a superior and memorable flying experience. #FlyAI #NewAirIndia #A320neo 🛫
