Pilotcenter.net News has reported that Carrier Air Marshall Islands is set to enhance its fleet with the addition of two twin-engine Cessna SkyCourier turboprops after placing an order with Textron Aviation. The announcement of this purchase agreement was made on November 21, 2024, revealing that the new aircraft will play a crucial role in facilitating travel within the Marshall Islands communities.
Air Marshall Islands, a government-owned airline operating commercially and headquartered in the capital city of Majuro in the South Pacific, aims to leverage the low operating costs and maximum cabin flexibility of the Cessna SkyCourier to elevate regional connectivity in the region. Lannie O’Bannion, Senior Vice President of Global Sales and Flight Operations at Textron Aviation, emphasized the significant impact of the SkyCourier, stating, "The Cessna SkyCourier is an excellent choice to support the mission of Air Marshall Islands."
This strategic move underlines Textron Aviation's dedication to providing innovative aviation solutions that align with the evolving needs of the industry. The Cessna SkyCourier offers versatile configurations including freighter and passenger options, along with a combi setup or gravel kit for increased adaptability in operations.
Captain Albon Jelke, General Manager and CEO of Air Marshall Islands, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition of the Cessna SkyCourier, recognizing it as a substantial step towards modernizing the airline’s fleet. Jelke emphasized the significance of these new aircraft in enhancing connectivity to the remote atolls and islands within the Marshall Islands, ensuring vital air services are easily accessible to both local communities and visitors.
With a current fleet comprising two Dornier 228-212s and a De Havilland Canada Dash 8, Air Marshall Islands is poised to elevate its operational capabilities with the addition of the Cessna SkyCourier.
