Air Transat, the Canadian-based leisure airline, has recently launched new non-stop flights between Toronto and Berlin, marking a significant milestone in the airline's expansion. The seasonal route, which will operate twice a week until October 2025, is set to offer travelers a convenient and direct way to experience the vibrant German capital.
Sebastian Ponce, the Chief Revenue Officer of Transat, expressed his enthusiasm for the new route, stating, "As the sole airline offering non-stop service from Canada to the German capital, we are excited to provide travelers with a direct and enriching way to experience one of Europe’s most vibrant cities." The new connection not only strengthens the airline's European presence out of Toronto but also underscores its commitment to creating meaningful connections across the Atlantic.
Kurush Minocher, interim Chief Commercial Officer of Toronto Pearson, highlighted the significance of the new route, mentioning, "Last year, 15,000 people traveled between Toronto and Berlin, all requiring a stopover on their journey. We are excited to offer new routes that enhance passenger choice and strengthen Toronto Pearson’s global connectivity."
Aletta von Massenbach, Chief Executive Officer of Berlin Brandenburg Airport, also welcomed the new partnership, saying, "We are delighted to welcome Air Transat as a new airline partner at BER. The new route directly connects the Berlin Brandenburg region with Toronto and offers attractive onward flight options."
Through a partnership with Porter Airlines, Air Transat aims to provide seamless connections to and from major Canadian cities, making it easier for travelers to explore Berlin and for German travelers to discover the wonders of Canada.
Air Transat's recent accolade as the World's Best Leisure Airline at the 2025 Skytrax World Airline Awards for the seventh time emphasizes the airline's dedication to providing exceptional travel experiences. Pamela Lloyd-Bergeron, Air Transat’s Director, In-Flight Service, accepted the award, recognizing the efforts of the airline's team in delivering excellent service and memorable travel experiences.
Annick Guérard, President and Chief Executive Officer of Transat, expressed the airline's commitment to putting clients first, stating, "It is thanks to their openness, their genuine care, their constant desire to go above and beyond, and their pleasure in making people travel that we continue to stand out worldwide."
Air Transat’s consistent recognition as a leisure travel leader reflects high levels of passenger satisfaction and the airline's ability to deliver a reliable and enjoyable experience tailored to leisure travelers, as noted by Edward Plaisted, Chief Executive Officer of Skytrax.
In addition to the Toronto-Berlin route, Air Transat also announced a new year-round non-stop service between Toronto and Istanbul, as well as forming an interline partnership with Turkish Airlines to enhance air service between Canada and Turkey. These developments further solidify Air Transat's position as a key player in the travel industry, offering passengers a wide range of travel options to diverse destinations across the world.
