Airbus is facing an ambitious challenge with a delivery target for December as the company strives to meet CEO Guillaume Faury's vision of reaching around 770 aircraft deliveries in 2024. The latest update from Airbus, as reported by Pilotcenter.net News, revealed that in November 2024, the company successfully delivered 84 aircraft, bringing the total for the year to 643.
Earlier in July 2024, Airbus had adjusted its delivery target for the year from 800 planes to approximately 770, citing issues with engine shortages and other crucial components. With this new target in mind, Airbus is now looking to deliver around 127 aircraft in December 2024 to meet its annual goal.
Despite the challenges faced, Airbus has shown resilience in the past. In December 2023, the company exceeded expectations by delivering 112 aircraft to 51 customers, reaching a total of 735 deliveries for the year – surpassing Faury's previous forecast by 15 planes and marking an 11% increase from 2022 figures.
Among the notable deliveries in November 2024 were significant milestones for Airbus and its customers. Malaysia Airlines received its inaugural Airbus A330neo, Emirates welcomed its first A350, Ethiopian Airlines added the A350-1000 to its fleet, and Icelandair received its first Airbus plane, an A321LR.
In the same month, other customers receiving new aircraft included United Airlines (nine aircraft), Air Lease Cooperation (four aircraft), IndiGo (seven aircraft), and China Southern Airlines (five aircraft). Additionally, Airbus revealed that it secured 30 new orders in November 2024, all from undisclosed buyers. The orders encompassed 10 A321neos, 15 A330neos, and five A350-900s, demonstrating continued market demand for Airbus aircraft.
