Arajet, the Dominican airline, has made its grand entrance into the United States market with a much-anticipated inaugural flight from Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo to Miami International Airport on April 14, 2025. The exciting launch marks the beginning of regular service between these two bustling cities.

Initially, Arajet's Miami service will operate four times a week, with plans to ramp up to a daily frequency by June 2025. This new venture is exclusively serviced by Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, the sole aircraft type in Arajet's current fleet. Expansion is on the horizon as Arajet looks to meet the growing demand for travel between the US and the Dominican Republic.

In June 2025, Arajet aims to introduce a daily nonstop route between Miami and Punta Cana, a renowned tourist hotspot in the Dominican Republic. The airline, formerly known as Dominican Wings, underwent a rebranding in 2022 and has adopted a successful low-cost carrier model across the Americas, establishing an extensive network connecting destinations from Argentina and Chile to Canada.

The decision to venture into the US market was influenced by the Open Skies agreement signed between the US and the Dominican Republic in December 2024, paving the way for unhindered air travel between the two nations. Taking advantage of this regulatory shift, Arajet is set to expand its presence in the US market significantly in the coming months.

In the pipeline are plans to launch a new route between Santo Domingo and San Juan, Puerto Rico, on June 4, 2025, followed by a four-weekly service to Newark Liberty International Airport on June 16, 2025. Additional routes are in the works as Arajet adds more Boeing 737 MAX aircraft to its fleet.

Arajet will face stiff competition on the Miami to Santo Domingo route from industry giants like American Airlines and SKYHigh Dominicana.
