Avion Express, a globally renowned narrow-body ACMI operator and a part of Avia Solutions Group, is gearing up to obtain an Air Operator Certificate (AOC) in Mexico. The company has kick-started the recruitment process for the CEO of its upcoming Mexican ACMI start-up airline, as it sets its sights on expanding its presence in key Latin American markets.

Mexico, with its robust tourism industry attracting over 45 million international visitors last year, presents a promising opportunity for Avion Express. The country's reliance on air travel for domestic connectivity is evident from the staggering 830,000 flights within Mexico in 2024, serving 596 city pairs. This robust domestic air travel market, with an average of 0.85 flights per person, showcases the high demand for air travel within Mexico compared to other regions in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Darius Kajokas, the CEO of Avion Express, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting airlines by providing additional capacity to meet market demands effectively. With a solid footing in Europe, Avion Express is eyeing countercyclical markets for its global expansion strategy. Having already secured an AOC in Brazil, the company sees substantial growth potential in Mexico, leveraging its expertise and experience in the market.

The company’s plan to obtain an AOC in Mexico within the next 24 months is a strategic move to solidify its position as a global leader in ACMI solutions. Avion Express recognizes the importance of building a proficient team with in-depth knowledge of the local market to spearhead operations in Mexico. The upcoming CEO of Avion Express Mexico will play a crucial role in assembling the team, overseeing AOC certification, and managing the business once operational.

The ACMI business model, known for its adaptability to seasonal fluctuations, offers airlines the flexibility needed to navigate operational challenges effectively. Avion Express's fleet of 55 Airbus A320 family aircraft caters to various customer airlines globally, showcasing the company's commitment to providing reliable ACMI solutions to industry players like Eurowings, Flybondi, Wizz Air, and many more.

As Avion Express sets its sights on establishing a strong presence in Mexico, the company’s expansion into the Latin American market is poised to bring added value and efficiency to the region's air travel landscape.
