Avion Express has made a significant move into the South American aviation market by finalizing a wet-lease agreement with Flybondi, a prominent airline based in Argentina. This partnership involves the lease of two Airbus A320 aircraft under an ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance) agreement, marking Avion Express' debut in the Argentine aviation sector.

Pilotcenter.net News reports that the two Airbus A320s will be stationed in Buenos Aires and operations are scheduled to commence at the end of November 2024, running through until March 2025. Darius Kajokas, the CEO of Avion Express, expressed his pride in this collaboration, stating, "We are proud and honored to be the first Airbus A320 family ACMI operator in Argentina, partnering with Flybondi to enhance their operational capacity during this upcoming summer period in the southern hemisphere."

The adaptability of the ACMI model was emphasized by Avion Express, particularly its value in balancing business between Europe and South America during peak seasons. Kajokas further stated, "ACMI becomes highly effective when markets complement each other's seasons. In recent years, Avion Express has strategically focused on Latin America." The company is in the process of obtaining a new air operator certificate in Brazil to better cater to the rising demand in this region.

Flybondi, on November 15, 2024, announced its pioneering milestone as the first airline in Argentina to adopt agreements under the ACMI model. This development also signifies Flybondi's introduction of Airbus A320 aircraft into its fleet, alongside its existing Boeing 737-800 NGs. Mauricio Sana, CEO of Flybondi, shared, "This growth in our fleet allows us to offer a great proposition for the summer season. Flybondi's commitment to Argentina is solid and sustainable, as we aim to promote the country's development and boost tourism."

Avion Express, a member of the Avia Solutions Group, is poised for further expansion, as the group recently revealed plans to acquire up to 80 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft on November 14, 2024. This strategic move underscores the continued growth and diversification within the aviation industry.
