Pilotcenter.net News reports that BOC Aviation has sealed a leasing deal with the esteemed European travel conglomerate TUI for the provision of 14 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. These new planes are set to complement TUI Group’s extensive fleet of this particular model and are anticipated to be handed over to the group between 2025 and 2026. Equipped with CFM LEAP-1B engines, all of the aircraft covered in this agreement are bound to significantly boost TUI's modern aircraft collection.

In the words of BOC Aviation's Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Steven Townend, “With this financing, we are once more working with our existing customer, TUI, as it builds its fleet of new generation aircraft.” He further emphasized, “With the delivery of these aircraft anticipated over the next two years, this transaction will contribute to our investment and revenue pipelines.”

With an illustrious history as one of the earliest Boeing 737 operators globally, TUI is expected to use these additional aircraft to further enhance its already substantial fleet, which includes over 40 737 MAX aircraft. These include seven operated by TUI Fly (Germany), five by TUI Fly (Belgium), three by TUI Fly (Nordic), 21 by TUI Airways (UK), and six by TUI Fly (Netherlands). Interestingly, TUI Airways’ predecessor, Britannia Airways, marked a significant milestone with the reception of Europe’s inaugural Boeing 737 in 1968 at London-Luton Airport.

TUI has evolved into a significant player in the tourism industry, comprising numerous inclusive tour operators and under its umbrella brand are 1,600 travel agencies, online booking platforms, an impressive fleet of approximately 150 aircraft across five airlines, over 400 hotels, 15 cruise ships, and a strong presence in various top holiday destinations around the world.

On the other hand, BOC Aviation stands as a prominent global aircraft operating leasing entity with a fleet consisting of 693 aircraft, both owned, managed, and on order. As of September 30, 2024, the company’s fleet was on lease to 93 airlines operating in 48 different countries and regions worldwide. With its listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and headquarters located in Singapore, BOC Aviation also maintains offices in Dublin, London, New York, and Tianjin.
