British Airways is shaking up its loyalty program with 'The British Airways Club' to offer passengers new pathways to achieve bronze, silver, and gold status. Originally introduced in December 2024, the revamped scheme now rewards customers based on their spending rather than the distance they travel, taking the program to the next level of passenger satisfaction.

Under the updated program, members will earn one point for every £1 ($1.25) spent on eligible purchases, including extras like seat selection, additional baggage, and booking BA Holidays. To further enhance the loyalty scheme, British Airways announced on February 5, 2025, an exciting new 'Bonus Tier Point' incentive, enabling members to earn between 75 and 550 points per flight, depending on the cabin class, until December 31, 2025.

The new system also ensures that loyal passengers who traditionally earned their status based on the number of flights taken can still qualify for bronze or silver tier status by completing 25 or 50 flights respectively. Bronze status requires 3,500 Tier Points, silver demands 7,500, and gold sets the bar at 20,000.

Colm Lacy, Chief Commercial Officer, shared, “Our analysis indicates that Bronze and Silver members can maintain their status with a similar number of flights as before under the updated model.” He further explained, “We understand the importance of clarity and assurance for our members, which is why we have reintroduced sector-based qualification for flights with a BA flight number, catering to those who frequently choose British Airways for their travels.”

Set to launch on April 1, 2025, the revamped British Airways Club positions the airline as a top choice for frequent flyers seeking enhanced rewards and benefits.
