British Airways is expanding its Italian summer flight offerings for 2025, enhancing connections to beautiful destinations across the country. The renowned UK flag carrier plans to launch three new flight routes, strengthening its presence in Italy. Commencing in May 2025, British Airways will introduce exciting journeys to Rimini’s Federico Fellini International Airport (RMI) on the Adriatic Coast from London-Heathrow Airport (LHR), and to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi Airport (QSR) on the Amalfi Coast from London-Gatwick Airport (LGW). Additionally, travelers can look forward to a new route from London-City Airport (LCY) to Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB) in Sardinia, complementing the existing flights from Heathrow.
These new additions will elevate the tally of Italian destinations served by British Airways to 19, surpassing any other European country within the airline's network. Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, expressed enthusiasm about this development, stating, "Italy continues to prove hugely popular with our customers, making it our largest European destination and the second most popular globally behind the US. Last month, we observed a 10% surge in searches for summer flights to Italy compared to 2023. Thus, we are delighted to offer an even wider selection of destinations next year. Rimini, Salerno, and Olbia are all coastal gems, making them highly sought-after by our leisure travelers seeking sun, sea, and, of course, Italy’s delectable cuisine."
The flights to Rimini are set to commence on May 15, 2025, operating thrice weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. British Airways’ Gatwick-based subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, will initiate three weekly flights to Salerno in the Campania region from May 22, 2025, flying every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday. Passengers of British Airways will have the flexibility of choosing between London-City or Heathrow for their journey to Olbia in Sardinia. BA Cityflyer, British Airways’ London-City-based subsidiary, is scheduled to introduce a weekly service from May 25, 2025, with an increase to a twice-weekly service from July 16, 2025, operating on Wednesdays and Sundays.
With these new flight options, British Airways is enhancing the travel experience, providing more choices for adventurers looking to explore the stunning coastlines and vibrant culture of Italy.
