British Airways has made a splendid comeback, as it resumes its non-stop flights between London Heathrow and Tel Aviv after an 18-month hiatus. This decision has come at a crucial time when travel demand is on the steady rise, reuniting the UK and Israel in the skies. The first flight touched down in Tel Aviv (TLV) on April 5, signifying the airline's revival of a route that was put on hold in September 2023 due to security concerns.
Pilotcenter.net News notes that the airline will currently offer one daily service, with ambitious plans to boost this to two daily flights starting April 20, 2025. The return of British Airways is a breath of fresh air for many travelers who have been grappling with limited international flight options to and from Israel for an extended period. Throughout the suspension period, foreign carriers scaled back their operations, while Israeli airlines struggled to meet the demand, resulting in inflated ticket prices and restricted availability.
Despite British Airways making its comeback, not all airlines have followed suit. For instance, Virgin Atlantic, which previously operated up to 14 weekly flights on the London-Tel Aviv route, has yet to resume its services. Although the airline had announced intentions of restarting flights in September 2024, those plans haven't materialized. However, British Airways is not alone in its return to the Israeli market. Several international airlines have also reintroduced their services. United Airlines recommenced its flights to Tel Aviv on March 16, with Delta Air Lines swiftly following suit on April 1, 2025.
