Cathay Pacific, based in Hong Kong, has exciting news - they are returning to their roots at the former site of their spiritual home, Kai Tak Park. In a recent announcement, the airline revealed its partnership with Hong Kong's innovative Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP) as the exclusive Founding Travel Partner. The park, situated at the former international airport, is set to become a premier sports and entertainment destination in Hong Kong.

The official agreement was unveiled by Cathay Pacific's Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, and KTSP's CEO, John Sharkey, at a ceremony held at the Health and Wellness Centre, Kai Tak Sports Park. The new venue, being constructed on the old Kai Tak International Airport site, will be Hong Kong's largest arena for hosting various events annually.
The airline's history with Kai Tak Airport dates back to its opening in 1925 until its closure in 1998 when operations shifted to Chep Lap Kok. Through this partnership, Cathay Pacific and KTSP aim to introduce an aviation-themed immersive experience to engage the Hong Kong community and honor the airline's legacy.
Cathay Pacific will also support various projects, events, and the prestigious Hong Kong Rugby Sevens tournament which will be held at KTSP for the first time in 2025. Lau expressed the significance of Kai Tak Airport in Cathay's history and the return as the Founding Travel Partner of KTSP, emphasizing the airline's evolution into a premium travel lifestyle brand.
KTSP's John Sharkey expressed excitement about welcoming Cathay back to their original home and the partnership's potential to bring world-class events to Hong Kong.
