Cathay Pacific Group, consisting of Cathay Pacific, Cathay Cargo, and HK Express, has recently unveiled its latest traffic statistics for May 2025. In an exciting milestone, the airline conglomerate has achieved a historic feat by serving 100 destinations worldwide for the first time. Alongside this accomplishment, the group has been honored with several prestigious awards for its exceptional services.

Within the passenger division, Cathay Pacific witnessed a notable surge, carrying 36.1% more passengers in May 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Concurrently, the capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs) recorded a 31.2% increase year-on-year. Over the initial five months of 2025, the passenger count escalated by 28.4% in comparison to 2024. Lavinia Lau, the Chief Customer and Commercial Officer of Cathay Pacific Group, emphasized the remarkable performance, stating, "May exceeded our expectations with a record load factor of 84.7%. Long-haul demand, particularly with early student traffic returning to Hong Kong and our successful special fares campaign, has boosted these results."

Looking ahead, Lau anticipates robust demand during the upcoming summer travel peak, with Southeast Asia emerging as a popular choice among passengers. Furthermore, Cathay Pacific Group has commenced the first phase of its comprehensive lounge enhancement plan at Hong Kong International Airport to ensure a premium experience for its customers during the renovation period.

In the cargo sector, Cathay Cargo reported a 12.2% increase in cargo transported in May 2025 compared to the previous year, with a growth of 12.3% in total tonnage over the initial five months of 2025. Lau highlighted the positive performance of the cargo division, especially in the face of challenges such as the Golden Week holidays.

HK Express, the low-cost passenger division, recorded a 35.7% year-on-year increase in passengers carried in May 2025, along with significant growth in Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs). Lau expressed pride in the airline's network expansion and record seat capacity in its history, despite a slight dip in load factor compared to the previous year.

Looking ahead, HK Express has already added new routes and announced upcoming flights to further expand its network. Lau emphasized the Group's commitment to expanding global connectivity, with plans to introduce more destinations in the coming months.

Furthermore, Lau underscored the Group's recent accolades and awards, including Cathay Pacific's recognition as one of the top three airlines globally in the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2025. These achievements serve as motivation to continue delivering exceptional service and cementing their position as a leading service brand in the aviation industry.
