Cathay Pacific Introduces New Flights from Hong Kong to Rome

Cathay Pacific has exciting news for travelers as they make a grand return to Rome, Italy, with brand-new summer seasonal flights connecting the vibrant city with Hong Kong. The airline's global reach now spans nearly 100 destinations, with more exciting routes in the pipeline for 2025. The much-anticipated return to Rome was marked by the inaugural flight CX293 on June 5, 2025, utilizing the sleek Airbus A350 registered as B-LQG for a seamless journey. Departing from Hong Kong at the stroke of midnight, the flight touched down in Rome at 06:53 local time, after covering a total distance of 5,778 miles in just over 12 hours - truly a smooth and comfortable voyage.

This seasonal service to Rome marks the fourth new destination added to Cathay Pacific's expanding network this year, with flights operating on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Passengers will be delighted to experience the exceptional service onboard the Airbus A350-900, configured to host 280 travelers in a spacious three-class setup. Cathay Pacific's Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, expressed the airline's joy in rekindling its connection to Rome, stating, "Rome has long been an important destination for Cathay Pacific and a popular one among our customers. We look forward to welcoming our passengers with our signature Cathay Pacific service."

In addition to Rome, Cathay Pacific has plans to introduce new flights to Munich and Brussels later this summer, further enhancing connectivity between Hong Kong and Europe. Rome now joins Milan as Cathay Pacific's second destination in Italy, in addition to a comprehensive network of flights to major European cities. The airline's partnership with HK Express allows for seamless travel to 22 Chinese Mainland destinations, offering passengers expanded travel options across the Asia-Pacific region.

The Cathay Group's commitment to enhancing the passenger experience is evident through the introduction of services to a total of 16 destinations globally in 2025, with more announcements on the horizon. With recent additions such as Hyderabad, Dallas-Fort Worth, Urumqi, and the exciting return to Rome, Cathay Pacific continues to pave the way for convenient and memorable travel experiences. Meanwhile, HK Express has already launched services to various destinations, adding to the group's combined network which is set to reach a milestone of 100 destinations worldwide by the end of 2025, marking a significant achievement in the airline’s long and storied history.
