This initiative is designed to not only inspire young individuals to chase their dreams in aviation but also to make a positive impact on society as a whole. The official launch of the program took place on a memorable Saturday, March 22, 2025, showcasing Cathay Pacific's unwavering dedication to fostering youth development in Hong Kong.

Hundreds of enthusiastic young Hong Kongers were invited to partake in a special event to explore what the 'I Can Fly' program has in store for them. The underlying mission is to empower these young minds to pursue their aspirations and cultivate the next generation of talent within the aviation industry, thereby leaving a lasting impact on society. This year's edition of 'I Can Fly' introduces a revamped format focusing on the three core themes of 'Education, Discovery, and Exploration', with a key emphasis on social service involvement.

Pilotcenter.net News reports that Cathay Pacific is set to engage around 2,000 young individuals aged 10 to 18 in various activities aimed at nurturing their aspirations for aviation-related careers. The program is brought to the youth through a collaboration with the Hong Kong SAR Government’s Strive and Rise program, as well as other community partners. Notably, the recent 'Aviation Explorer Days' offered a unique opportunity for 870 students from underprivileged backgrounds to delve into the fascinating world of aviation, with the guidance of 70 dedicated Cathay Pacific staff volunteers.

During the event, Under Secretary for Transport and Logistics in Hong Kong, Liu Chun-san, expressed his admiration for the program, noting, “Cathay’s I Can Fly program is a meaningful initiative that not only broadens the participants’ horizons but also ignites their courage to pursue their aviation dreams.” This sentiment was echoed by Cathay's Director of People, Patricia Hwang, who emphasized the transformative impact of the program on inspiring young minds to chase their dreams in aviation.

Moving forward, Cathay Pacific plans to host a series of 'I Can Fly Aviation Explorer Days' throughout the year, offering immersive experiences at various aviation facilities and providing valuable career mentorship. The airline aims to instill a deep understanding of the aviation industry among Hong Kong's youth, paving the way for future talents and bolstering Hong Kong's global aviation hub status. Since its inception in 2003, the 'I Can Fly' program has empowered over 4,400 students, with many alumni already making strides in the aviation sector. Through initiatives like these, Cathay Pacific remains dedicated to fostering youth development and creating a brighter future for the community.
