Cathay Pacific, based in Hong Kong, is spreading its wings to new destinations in the US for the summer of 2025. Among these new routes is a direct flight connecting Hong Kong and Dallas, Texas. This move is part of the airline's strategic plan to enhance connectivity between Hong Kong, Mainland China, and North America, which holds a prominent place in its expansion strategy for the year. The inaugural flight departed from Hong Kong International Airport on April 24, 2025, to touch down at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport after a nearly 14-hour journey. To celebrate this milestone, Cathay Pacific's Director of Customer Travel, Erica Peng, and Airport Authority Hong Kong's Executive Director of Airport Operations, Steven Yiu Siu-chung, convened at Hong Kong Airport.

Pilotcenter.net News reports that the addition of Dallas is the sixth new passenger destination introduced by the Cathay Group in 2025, with a total of 15 new destinations planned for the year and more to come. Cathay Pacific's Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, Lavinia Lau, commented on the significance of this new route, highlighting the airline's commitment to providing customers with access to diverse global destinations from its hub in Hong Kong.

The flights have been scheduled four times weekly in each direction, offering convenient travel options for passengers. The service features Cathay Pacific's A350-1000 widebodies, with a three-class configuration accommodating a total of 334 passengers. In addition to Dallas, Cathay Pacific has revealed plans for new routes to Urumqi, Rome, Munich, and Brussels in 2025.

The airline's expanded network in North America during the summer of 2025 includes routes to major cities such as Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York, among others. Furthermore, Cathay Cargo is ramping up its freighter services to North America, with numerous weekly flights expected during the summer season. This growth aligns with the airline's commitment to enhancing its global connectivity and offering passengers a seamless travel experience.

The announcement of services to Dallas comes shortly after EVA Air revealed plans for non-stop flights connecting Taipei and Dallas, further enriching the air travel options between Asia and the US. EVA Air's services are set to commence in October 2025, utilizing the carrier's Boeing 777-300ER fleet. The aviation industry continues to witness new developments and expansions, reflecting the increasing demand for efficient and convenient travel options across the globe.
