Cathay Pacific Unveils Newly-Revamped Lounge Experience in Hong Kong
Pilotcenter.net News - Cathay Pacific has recently reopened its renowned lounge, The Bridge, at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) after undergoing a series of updates and enhancements. Nestled in a prime location within HKG Airport, The Bridge has been revamped with a plethora of fresh, distinctive features, while retaining beloved favorites to offer customers a premium and enriched experience.
Originally inaugurated in 2013, The Bridge temporarily shuttered its doors in 2020 amidst the throes of the global pandemic. Initially slated for permanent closure in 2021, a resurgence in luxury travel demand prompted a change of heart from the airline, leading to a comprehensive multi-year refurbishment of its lounges at the HKG Airport hub. The reopening of The Bridge heralds the prelude to the renovation of The Wing, First - scheduled to commence closure on May 23, 2025, and reopen in 2026 - followed by The Wing, Business, ensuring a continuous provision of top-tier lounge facilities to its esteemed patrons. Notably, one of Cathay Pacific's Business Class lounges, The Deck, is set to close for renovations starting May 21, 2025, and subsequently operate as an interim first-class lounge during The Wing's renovation phase.
As part of an extensive investment exceeding HK$100 billion (US$12.8 billion) in new aircraft, cabin amenities, lounges, and digital advancements, Cathay Pacific is poised to introduce new flagship lounges in Hong Kong, Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK), and, for the first time, New York's John F Kennedy Airport (JFK). Positioned near Departure Gate 35 at Terminal 1 of HKG Airport, the reimagined The Bridge lounge showcases a human-centric design ethos that blends thoughtful concepts, design elements, and material selections to cultivate a homely ambiance. The airline aspires that the design scheme will evoke a sense of welcome, value, and care among customers.
Unveiling an innovative biometric check-in system alongside a conventional check-in counter, The Bridge will also house Cathay's renowned Noodle Bar, dishing up signature delicacies such as wonton and dan dan noodles, and dim sum, to its discerning clientele. The ever-evolving menus will feature a medley of new Chinese favorites, ranging from hearty dishes like biangbiang mian to gourmet choices like braised beef shin with cauliflower, paired with vibrant salads and delectable desserts.
Guillaume Vivet, Cathay Pacific's General Manager Customer Experience Design, articulated, "Our aim was to fashion a space that exudes warmth - one that captures our dedication to thoughtful, human-centered design. Every aspect, from furnishings and dining options to scents and melodies, has been meticulously curated to enhance comfort and foster a tranquil, sophisticated ambiance. The outcome is an oasis where patrons can truly unwind - a sanctuary crafted to elevate their journey and create enduring memories with each visit."
