Cathay Pacific is set to bring more travel options to passengers with the announcement of the resumption of flights between Hong Kong and Adelaide in Australia. The airline will be offering a seasonal service three times a week, starting in late 2025. Adelaide will become the eighth passenger destination in the Southwest Pacific region for Cathay Pacific.
The non-stop flights, covering a distance of 4,256 miles, between Hong Kong International Airport and Adelaide International Airport are scheduled to commence on November 11, 2025. According to an official statement from the airline, “The winter seasonal service resumes an important connection between the airline’s home hub and the South Australian capital, providing more choices for customers traveling between Hong Kong, the Southwest Pacific and beyond.”
The new service is part of Cathay Pacific’s expanding network in the region, with the airline serving destinations such as Auckland, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Cairns, and Christchurch. The flights to Adelaide will be operated by the airline’s fleet of Airbus A350-900 aircraft, equipped with fully flat beds in Business class, as well as premium economy and economy cabins.
Lavinia Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Chief Customer and Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the new route, stating, “We are thrilled to be reconnecting our home hub with Adelaide, a bustling city that holds particular significance for Cathay Pacific.” Lau highlighted the airline's longstanding collaboration with Flight Training Adelaide and expressed excitement about the increased flight choices the new service will offer to customers in the region.
In addition to passenger travel, the new Adelaide flights will also provide enhanced options for cargo customers, with increased belly capacity for cargo shipments. Cathay Pacific is continually expanding its global network, with plans to add 16 new destinations in 2025, bringing its global route network to 100 passenger destinations by the end of the first half of the year.
With Adelaide joining the list of destinations served by Cathay Pacific, the airline is committed to providing customers with more travel options, whether for business or leisure purposes. The upcoming launch of the Hong Kong to Adelaide service demonstrates the airline's dedication to connecting travelers in the Southwest Pacific region with its home hub, offering a premium travel experience with its signature Cathay Pacific service.
