CEB and flyadeal, two prominent low-cost carriers, have recently solidified a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Manila, dated May 28, 2025. Spearheaded by Cebu Pacific CEO Michael Szucs and flyadeal CEO Steven Greenway, this alliance encompasses a wide array of opportunities within commercial collaboration and maintenance support. The initial phase of this landmark agreement entails flyadeal leveraging two of Cebu Pacific's Airbus A320 aircraft under a wet lease agreement for the impending peak summer flying season in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In return, Cebu Pacific is contemplating the wet leasing of flyadeal's A320s during Southeast Asia's bustling winter season towards the end of the year. The genesis of this partnership revolves around capacity sharing, as articulated by Greenway in an exclusive interview with Pilotcenter.net News. In his words, “Their low is our peak, and their peak is our low.” Notably, this collaboration marks the first of its kind approved by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, showcasing flyadeal’s pioneering status as the fastest-growing airline in the Middle East. Their recent foray into the long-haul market includes an order for 10 Airbus A330-900neo aircraft to facilitate routes between Saudi Arabia, the Philippines, and Southeast Asia starting in 2027. Greenway emphasized the significance of this agreement, citing the wealth of knowledge that flyadeal stands to gain from Cebu Pacific's extensive experience in low-cost long-haul operations, especially with the impending induction of A330-900neos into their fleet. This partnership signifies a pivotal moment for flyadeal, establishing their first strategic alliance within the aviation industry. Szucs of Cebu Pacific also highlighted the mutual benefits derived from this cooperation, emphasizing the optimization of fleet capacity throughout the year by engaging with other carriers during lean seasons. As both airlines operate A320s, there exists a common ground for sharing technical expertise, training resources, and best practices in anticipation of the forthcoming A330 fleet integration.
