In 2025, Delta Air Lines, based in Atlanta, will be commemorating its 100th anniversary since its inception as Huff Daland Crop Dusters Inc. back in 1925 in Macon, Georgia. To mark this significant milestone, the airline has unveiled a special centenary livery that will adorn two of its Airbus aircraft.

One of the selected aircraft for this special occasion is the Airbus A321neo N589DT, currently undergoing preparations for delivery at the Airbus final assembly plant in Hamburg, Germany. Recently, on February 5, 2025, the aircraft made its debut after emerging from the hangar at Hamburg-Finkenwerder Airport (XFW), donning its test registration of D-AZAI. The aircraft underwent engine runs and ground testing in anticipation of its upcoming maiden flight.

The centenary livery of the aircraft showcases a unique design that incorporates elements of the current Delta Air Lines livery while introducing a fresh look, prominently featuring the color silver to set it apart from its counterparts. The exterior design includes midnight blue and metallic royal blue bands on the rear fuselage, accented with silver, extending to the tail. The iconic Delta 'widget' logo on the vertical stabilizer is presented in silver, with the mid-fuselage adorned with similar colored bands leading towards the tail. The front fuselage proudly displays '100 Years' titles accompanied by a silver Delta widget, making a bold statement about the airline's longevity.

Delta Air Lines plans to receive N589DT in March 2025, coinciding with the celebration of its 100th anniversary. Alongside the A321neo, a brand-new A350-900 is also set to join the fleet in the first quarter of 2025 with a similar commemorative livery. Additionally, the airline will introduce a cabin design refresh for its narrowbody 757 aircraft, followed by enhancements for the widebody Airbus A350 fleet later in the year.

The unveiling of the special livery and the cabin upgrades are part of Delta's extensive plans to celebrate its centennial year. Earlier in January, the airline kickstarted the celebrations at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, transforming the venue into a immersive experience showcasing Delta's global presence. Attendees were treated to an interactive exhibit celebrating the airline's rich history, while a specially created animation highlighted the evolution of aviation over the past 100 years.

As Delta Air Lines continues to expand its fleet, currently operating 1007 commercial aircraft with more on order, the centenary celebrations promise to be a memorable and exciting journey honoring the airline's enduring legacy in aviation.
