Exciting news for travel enthusiasts and jet-setters alike! Delta Air Lines has just announced its plans to kick off a non-stop service connecting Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with Melbourne Airport (MEL) by the end of 2025. This new route, scheduled to commence in December 2025, will offer passengers a direct flight that spans nearly 16 hours. Operated thrice a week initially, there’s also a possibility of boosting the flight frequency for convenience.

Setting the stage for an unparalleled travel experience, Delta will be deploying its top-of-the-line Airbus A350-900s for this groundbreaking route. What's more, passengers can look forward to Delta's cutting-edge four-class cabin, featuring a whopping 275 seats and specially curated amenities, including 40 deluxe Delta One suites.

With this upcoming launch, Delta is all set to mark a historic milestone as the first airline to fly the Airbus A350 non-stop between Melbourne and the United States. Paul Baldoni, Senior Vice President of Network Planning at Delta, expressed his excitement, stating, “Delta’s new service to Melbourne reflects our commitment to connecting customers with the world's most exciting destinations.” Undoubtedly, this new venture underscores Delta's dedication to offering customers a seamless and premium travel experience, whether they are exploring Melbourne or embarking on a global journey through the bustling Los Angeles hub.

The aviation industry is abuzz with anticipation as Melbourne Airport CEO Lorie Argus shared her enthusiasm, stating, “Delta is one of the largest airlines in the world and is consistently rated one of North America’s best carriers, so we’re thrilled to have them adding Melbourne to their network because of the opportunities it presents for Victorians and Victorian business.”

This groundbreaking strategic move further solidifies Melbourne's position as a pivotal destination on Delta's global network map. Notably, Melbourne will be joining the ranks alongside Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport (SYD) and Brisbane Airport (BNE) as Delta's third nonstop destination in Australia. Moreover, this new direct route expands Delta's footprint in the South Pacific region, with a network that includes cities like Auckland Airport (AKL) and Papeete Fa’a’a International Airport (PPT) in Tahiti.
