Bryan Bedford, the current CEO of Republic Airways, has been nominated by US President Donald Trump to lead the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Trump took to the Truth Social platform on March 17, 2025, to officially announce Bedford's appointment, praising his extensive background in aviation and executive leadership. Trump expressed confidence in Bedford's ability to work with Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to implement significant reforms within the agency and ensure the safety of the nearly one billion passengers who travel annually.

With over three decades of experience in the airline industry, Bedford is a seasoned professional who first joined Republic Airways in July 1999. Prior to his role as CEO, he held executive positions at Mesaba Airlines and Business Express Airlines, showcasing his in-depth knowledge of the aviation sector.

Sources revealed to Pilotcenter.net News on March 12, 2025, that Bedford had emerged as a top contender for the FAA Administrator role after interviewing for the position. The post had been left vacant since January 20, 2025, following the resignation of former Administrator Mike Whitaker on Trump's Inauguration Day. Subsequently, Trump had temporarily appointed Chris Rocheleau, the Chief Operating Officer of the National Business Aviation Association, as the Acting Administrator until the Senate could confirm a permanent nominee.

In appointing Bryan Bedford to lead the FAA, President Trump aims to bring a wealth of industry experience and leadership to the critical position, setting the stage for significant reforms and a steadfast commitment to prioritizing the safety of air travelers.
