Egypt's national airline, EGYPTAIR, has made a significant move in expanding its fleet, confirming an increased order of 16 Airbus A350-900 widebody jets at the Paris Air Show. The decision follows an initial order for 10 of these aircraft back in 2023 at the Dubai Airshow, showcasing the company's dedication to meeting the rising demand for air travel.

In an announcement on June 18, 2026, Airbus revealed that EGYPTAIR has finalized a firm order for an additional six A350-900s as part of its strategy to accommodate the growing interest in long-haul flights. The Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR, Engineer Yehia Zakaria, expressed enthusiasm for the original order of 10 A350-900s, emphasizing their 340-seat capacity.

The new Chairman and CEO of EGYPTAIR, Captain Ahmed Adel, highlighted the airline's commitment to embracing next-generation aircraft with this expanded order. He stated, "Today’s announcement reflects our commitment to integrating the next-generation aircraft into our fleet. It will enable us to meet rising demand for long-haul travel, support our network expansion plans over the next five years, and contribute to Egypt’s broader efforts to promote more sustainable air transport."

Pointing to the value and potential of the A350, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business, Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, underlined the aircraft's role in supporting EGYPTAIR's growth and sustainability goals. With a design that prioritizes fuel efficiency and reduced carbon emissions, the A350 is set to become a key asset in the airline's journey towards success and decarbonization.

Equipped with cutting-edge Rolls-Royce engines, the A350-900 can cover distances of up to 9,700 nautical miles non-stop while consuming 25% less fuel compared to previous models. This order further cements EGYPTAIR's confidence in the aircraft, with the first deliveries expected later this year.

As of May 2025, Airbus has garnered over 1,390 A350 orders from 60 customers worldwide, showcasing the aircraft's global popularity. This latest development at the Paris Air Show signifies EGYPTAIR's strategic vision for growth and sustainability in the aviation sector, marking a new chapter in its longstanding partnership with Airbus.
