Pilotcenter.net News reports that Emirates CEO Tim Clark shared a positive outlook on the future of Boeing’s 777X widebody aircraft during a press briefing at the International Air Transport Association's annual general meeting. Emirates has a substantial order of over 200 777X aircraft and is eagerly anticipating their delivery, expected to commence by early 2027.

Clark commended Boeing’s efforts to advance the certification process of the new aircraft, noting that there is a clear indication of progress and commitment from the manufacturer. Emphasizing the importance of quality and safety in aircraft production, Clark expressed his confidence in Boeing’s dedication to meeting delivery timelines.

Emirates placed its initial order for the 777X back in 2014, solidifying a deal for 150 aircraft valued at $56 billion, making it the largest product launch in commercial jetliner history at the time. Despite delays due to certification challenges and external factors like the COVID-19 pandemic, Emirates remains optimistic about the future delivery timeline of the 777X.

In anticipation of the new aircraft's arrival, Emirates is investing in updating its existing fleet and has recently added Airbus A350-900s to bridge the gap while awaiting the 777X deliveries. Clark reaffirmed Emirates’ commitment to the Airbus A380 superjumbo, highlighting the carrier's plans to continue operating these aircraft until the late 2020s.

Emirates' ongoing investments and strategic fleet management reflect its dedication to providing a top-tier passenger experience and staying at the forefront of the aviation industry. With the promising progress on the 777X certification front, Emirates looks forward to expanding its fleet and enhancing its global network in the coming years.
