The collaboration includes a codeshare agreement that will see the launch of new flights between Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) and Bole Addis Ababa International Airport (ADD) in the vibrant city of Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Airlines is set to kick off the services from Addis Ababa to Abu Dhabi on July 15, 2025, utilizing their state-of-the-art fleet of Boeing 777 and Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. This will be followed by daily flights to Addis Ababa from Etihad Airways starting October 1, 2025, offering passengers a seamless travel experience between these two dynamic destinations.

Antonoaldo Neves, the CEO of Etihad Airways, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This Joint Venture is great news for customers of both airlines. The start of flights between the two great cities of Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi connects our expanding networks, giving our customers seamless access to a growing list of destinations via our extensive hubs.” Neves also hinted at further cooperation possibilities between the two airlines, ranging from frequent flyer programs to cargo services.

On the Ethiopian Airlines side, Mesfin Tasew, the Group CEO, highlighted the significance of this collaboration in strengthening their global presence. “The launch of our new flight to Abu Dhabi marks our third destination in the UAE, following Dubai and Sharjah (Cargo). With over 120 weekly passenger and cargo services to the Middle East and Gulf states, we are committed to providing exceptional connectivity and service to both our customers,” Tasew remarked.
