In a recent twist, a former Emirates cabin crew member, Amanda King, finds herself at the center of a controversy that may have landed her colleagues in hot water. With a popular 'behind-the-scenes' vlog uploaded on YouTube, Amanda King gives viewers a glimpse into the day-to-day life of a Dubai-based cabin crew member. Known for sharing insights through layover vlogs, ‘get ready with me’ videos, and even breakdowns of her salary, King has garnered a substantial following across various social media platforms.

About eight months ago, King, an Australian citizen who previously worked for Virgin Australia, shared a vlog titled “Behind The Scenes as EMIRATES CABIN CREW – Things you DONT see as a Passenger Shanghai Vlog.” The 30-minute video, now boasting over 1.2 million views, remains on YouTube to this day. It captures King preparing for a flight from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), showcasing moments during the flight, the layover, and the return journey to Dubai.

While initially appearing innocuous, the vlog ignited concerns as it revealed instances where security protocols were breached. From bringing her boyfriend, a passenger on the flight, to the crew rest area, to showcasing colleagues baking a cake in the galley, and requesting a cabin crew member to switch seats to be closer to her boyfriend, King's actions triggered an investigation by Emirates. Despite King's resignation prior to the video's release, Emirates shifted its focus to other crew members involved, potentially leading to dismissals as rumors from current Emirates crew members suggest.

Emirates, a renowned player among Middle Eastern carriers, is acknowledged for its relatively relaxed stance on employees sharing work-related content on social media. However, this incident sheds light on the carrier's underlying restrictions regarding the content shared by its employees. While a plethora of Emirates cabin crew, past, and present, continue to showcase their experiences online, this situation emphasizes the importance of adhering to company guidelines when sharing insights about work life.
