Exciting news from the world of aviation as Riyadh Air, a Saudi startup airline, gears up for the arrival of its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The airline recently unveiled its leased aircraft, adorned in a stunning pearl livery, which will be proudly showcased at Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. This marks a significant milestone for Riyadh Air, setting the stage for a new chapter in its journey towards becoming a prominent player in the aviation industry.

The brand-new Dreamliner will not only be a sight to behold but will also serve a crucial role as a technical spare and for training purposes in the months ahead. Featuring a high-specification interior, this aircraft is a testament to Riyadh Air’s commitment to excellence and innovation. While it may not have the latest cabin interiors, it is a valuable addition to the airline's growing fleet.

Interestingly, this Dreamliner is not part of the original order of 72 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners placed back in March 2023. However, it will play a vital role in expediting the Air Operator Certificate process with the General Authority of Civil Aviation and ensuring operational readiness for Riyadh Air as it gears up to commence flights later this year.

Looking ahead, Riyadh Air has ambitious plans for expansion, with a goal to increase its fleet to over 200 aircraft in the coming years. In line with this vision, the airline is currently exploring options with leading aircraft manufacturers for additional widebody aircraft. The possibility of acquiring Boeing 777X and Airbus A350-1000 jets is on the table, with negotiations expected to be finalized in the first or second quarter of 2025.

Despite not having launched commercial flights yet, Riyadh Air is already making waves in the aviation community, attracting attention and admiration from industry insiders. With its strategic plans and innovative approach, Riyadh Air is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive world of commercial aviation. Stay tuned for more updates as this dynamic airline prepares to take flight in 2025!
