Icelandair recently revealed exciting news for travelers, as they unveiled their plans to introduce new non-stop flights from Reykjavik, Iceland, to Istanbul, Turkey, starting in September 2025. The flights to Istanbul Airport (IST) are scheduled to run four times a week commencing on September 5, 2025, with a relatively short flight time of approximately five hours and 30 minutes—a welcome addition for those craving adventure in the vibrant Turkish city.
In an official announcement released on November 14, 2024, Bogi Nils Bogason, the President and CEO of Icelandair, expressed his enthusiasm for this upcoming route: "I look forward to adding the great destination of Istanbul to our extensive route network and to further expand the partnership with Turkish Airlines. In recent years, we have seen increased interest in travel between Asia and Iceland, and with these new connections, we are further strengthening our sales and distribution network."
Building upon a growing collaboration, Icelandair and Turkish Airlines will enhance their codeshare partnership, initially introduced in the summer of 2023. By syncing Icelandair's schedule with Turkish Airlines’ flights to and from Asia and the Middle East, travelers can expect reduced total travel time when journeying from the east to Iceland.
Operating within four main markets—to Iceland, from Iceland, via Iceland, and within Iceland—Icelandair offers a diverse range of services spanning Europe, North America, the North Atlantic region, and the West Nordic region. This latest development not only opens up new opportunities for travelers but also highlights the continuous efforts of both airlines to optimize travel experiences and provide seamless connections for passengers. Stay tuned for more updates as we move closer to the launch date of this exciting new flight route!
