Korean Air has exciting plans in store for its passengers, with the announcement of the launch of a premium economy class and upgrades to its airport lounges at key locations. This move is part of the airline's commitment to enhancing its services for travelers.
In an effort to revamp its offerings, Korean Air recently revealed a new brand identity and aircraft livery to mark its merger with Asiana Airlines. As part of this transformation, the airline will be retrofitting 11 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft to introduce premium economy cabins by removing the first-class sections. The first upgraded aircraft is set to debut in the second half of 2025 with a new three-class configuration that includes Prestige (business), premium economy, and economy classes. This upgrade initiative will continue through 2026 to expand premium economy availability on more routes, catering to the increasing demand for this type of seating.
Furthermore, starting August 2025, Korean Air will be expanding and renovating its lounges at Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. The new "Prestige Class Garden Lounges" will be constructed to accommodate the rising passenger traffic following the airport's expansion and Asiana Airlines' move to Terminal 2. These enhancements will see the existing Prestige Class Lounge in the east wing double in size, along with the expansion of the Miler Club Lounge. These developments will be rolled out in phases, with the First Class Lounge and Prestige Class Lounge in the west wing set for renovations and reopening in April 2026.
Upon completion of all upgrades, Korean Air will operate a total of six lounges at Incheon Airport, significantly increasing the overall lounge space by 2.5 times and doubling seating capacity. Additionally, the airline's lounges at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and John F Kennedy Airport (JFK) are set to undergo complete restructuring, featuring city-themed designs to provide an enhanced experience for travelers.
With these exciting advancements on the horizon, travelers can look forward to a more luxurious and comfortable journey with Korean Air. Stay tuned for more updates on these developments on Pilotcenter.net News!
