Vietjet Air from Vietnam and Qazaq Air from Kazakhstan recently announced a joint venture to launch a brand new low-cost airline called Vietjet Qazaqstan. This exciting collaboration will see Vietjet Qazaqstan take to the skies with a fleet of at least 20 top-of-the-line Boeing 737 aircraft. The aim is to enhance connectivity between Kazakhstan, Vietnam, and other Southeast Asian destinations, offering travelers more affordable flying options.

The grand unveiling of Vietjet Qazaqstan took place at the Kazakhstan–Vietnam Business Roundtable on May 6, 2025, during the esteemed state visit of Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam to Kazakhstan. Vietjet Air's subsidiary Aviation Holdings received a significant boost as Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance granted a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate, allowing them to acquire a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air. This strategic move is seen as a crucial milestone in Vietjet’s global expansion strategy and is expected to bolster the ties between Vietnam and Kazakhstan across various sectors, including aviation, economics, and culture.

In a statement, Vietjet Air expressed their commitment to the partnership, emphasizing the importance of strengthening ties between the two nations. Vietjet Qazaqstan wasted no time in securing a key partnership with Boeing by signing a Customer Services General Terms Agreement. This agreement ensures that Boeing will provide essential services such as software solutions, spare parts, technical support, as well as pilot and engineer training programs for Vietjet Qazaqstan's B737 fleet. The collaboration also includes aircraft upgrades and modifications to enhance operational efficiency and safety standards.

Vietjet Qazaqstan is gearing up to revolutionize the aviation industry with modern operational models, digital management systems, and cutting-edge training programs for its personnel. The airline will receive continuous technical and operational guidance from Vietjet to ensure seamless operations. During his visit, General Secretary To Lam highlighted the longstanding friendship between Vietnam and Kazakhstan, dating back to 1959 when President Ho Chi Minh visited Kazakhstan, laying the foundation for a strong partnership between the two nations.

The official state visit of the Vietnamese General Secretary not only celebrated the historical ties but also marked the elevation of relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan from a bilateral partnership to a strategic partnership agreement. With Vietjet Qazaqstan poised to take flight, the future looks bright for enhanced connectivity and collaboration between these two vibrant nations. Stay tuned for more updates as Vietjet Qazaqstan paves the way for a new era of affordable air travel in the region.
