Pilotcenter.net News has announced a major development in the aviation industry with Saudi low-cost carrier flyadeal confirming an order for 10 Airbus A330-900neo aircraft, marking its venture into operating widebody planes. Since its establishment in 2017, as a subsidiary of the Saudia Group, flyadeal has primarily flown Airbus A320 family aircraft, occasionally utilizing leased A330 planes from other operators.

The official signing of the deal took place at a ceremony held in Toulouse, France, solidifying the airline's commitment to expanding its fleet. This order follows a previous substantial purchase by the Saudia Group in May 2024, which included 105 A320 family aircraft. Among these, 54 A321neo planes were designated for flyadeal, setting the stage for their growth in the industry.

Based in Jeddah, flyadeal has been strategically broadening its reach not only within the Middle East but also branching out to various destinations in Africa and southeastern Europe, especially during peak travel seasons. The introduction of the A330-900neo aircraft will unlock new opportunities for flyadeal to tap into markets further afield, signaling a significant milestone for the low-cost carrier.

This move aligns with Saudi Arabia's efforts to ramp up air passenger traffic, complementing initiatives taken by other domestic airlines like Saudia, Riyadh Air, and flynas. Flynas, for instance, made a substantial aircraft order in July 2024, securing 160 Airbus planes, including 30 A330s, in a bid to boost capacity and connectivity within the region. As flyadeal spreads its wings with these new acquisitions, the future looks promising for the airline and the Saudi aviation industry as a whole.
