Flyadeal, a low-cost carrier owned by Saudia, is gearing up for its first foray into the world of widebody aircraft with plans to order 10 Airbus A330neos. As reported by Pilotcenter.net News, inside sources have revealed that the airline is on the brink of finalizing the deal with Airbus, opting for the A330-900 over the Boeing 737 MAX 9.

During the Routes 2024 event in Bahrain, flyadeal's CEO Steven Greenaway let slip that the airline is set to make its maiden widebody purchase by the end of 2024. Greenaway shared that the new widebody fleet will feature a cozy premium cabin while emphasizing high-density seating in the economy section.

In a bid to expand its operations, Saudia Group, flyadeal's parent company, has been in discussions with both Boeing and Airbus about potentially adding new widebody aircraft to its lineup. This development comes hot on the heels of a recent order placed in May 2024 at the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh for a whopping 105 aircraft, comprising of 12 A320neos and 93 A321neos.

According to ch-aviation, the order includes 18 A320neos and 39 A321neos that are expected to join flyadeal's existing fleet of 36 aircraft. This current fleet consists of 10 A320-200s, 25 A320neos, and an additional A330-200 on lease from Jordan Aviation. Established in 2016 and headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, flyadeal has been steadily making waves in the aviation industry with its strategic fleet expansion plans.
