Dubai-based airline flydubai has big plans to expand its reach across Europe, with new flights to four exciting cities in the continent. The carrier is set to commence operations to destinations in Romania, Latvia, and Lithuania starting in September 2025.
Pilotcenter.net News reports that on May 29, 2025, flydubai made the exciting announcement of launching flights between Dubai and Iași and Chișinău in Romania in September 2025, followed by Vilnius in Lithuania and Riga in Latvia in December 2025. With this expansion, flydubai will now connect passengers to over 135 destinations in 58 countries globally, with its European network expanding to 35 destinations across 20 countries.
Interestingly, at three out of the four new destinations (excluding Chișinău), flydubai will be the first UAE carrier to offer direct flights from Dubai. This move signifies the carrier's efforts to reach underserved markets and strengthen trade and tourism links, as highlighted by Ghaith Al Ghaith, the Chief Executive Officer at flydubai, who expressed their commitment to enhancing connections with the launch of these new European routes.
In a significant move, flydubai is venturing into the Baltic region for the first time with direct services to Riga International Airport in Latvia and Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania, providing travelers with more options for exploring these picturesque destinations. The airline's new routes are not only expanding its network but also offering passengers convenient connections through Dubai International Airport, with Emirates codesharing on all four of the newly announced routes.
Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai, emphasized the importance of Europe as a key market for the airline and expressed excitement about broadening their network with the introduction of flights to Chișinău, Iași, Riga, and Vilnius. These cities are described as unique travel destinations, each offering its own blend of rich history and architectural wonders.
The addition of these new routes aligns with flydubai's strategy of enhancing its fleet capabilities, with the airline currently operating an all-Boeing fleet that includes 88 aircraft. Additionally, flydubai has ordered 30 787-9 Dreamliners, showcasing its commitment to growth and innovation in the aviation industry.
As flydubai continues to expand its network and introduce new routes, travelers can look forward to exploring captivating destinations in Eastern Europe and the Baltic region, thanks to the airline's dedication to providing seamless connectivity and exceptional travel experiences.
