Gulf Air, the flag carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has exciting news for travelers - new direct flights to London-Gatwick Airport are on the horizon! Beginning March 30, 2025, Gulf Air will kick off this service during the IATA summer scheduling season, enhancing its presence in the UK market. With three weekly flights utilizing their reliable Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet, passengers can expect a top-notch experience on board. The aircraft is configured to accommodate 282 passengers across two classes - 26 in business class and 252 in economy.
Departing Bahrain International Airport at 01:45 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, the flights will touch down at London-Gatwick at 06:55 local time. The return leg will leave Gatwick at 11:25, arriving back in Bahrain at 20:00 the same day. Covering a route spanning 3,152 miles (5,043km), the flight duration will be around seven hours to London and approximately six hours back to Bahrain. This new offering complements Gulf Air's current services to London-Heathrow Airport, where the airline operates a double daily service with the same Boeing 787-9 fleet.
According to a Gulf Air spokesperson, "This expansion underscores the increasing travel demand between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, providing passengers with more options and convenience. London Gatwick will complement Gulf Air’s existing services to London-Heathrow Airport, enhancing connectivity to a broader range of destinations in the UK and beyond. This new route represents a significant advancement in Gulf Air’s broader strategy to expand its network, strengthening crucial ties between Bahrain and the United Kingdom."
Gulf Air boasts a rich history, established in 1950 as Gulf Aviation and transitioning to government control in 1973. Over the years, the airline has evolved and is now under the full ownership of the Kingdom of Bahrain since May 2007. With a fleet of 42 aircraft including a mix of Airbus A320s and A321s along with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, Gulf Air continues to grow and innovate. Stay tuned for more updates as the airline looks forward to welcoming passengers on board its new London-Gatwick route!
