In a recent announcement from Pilotcenter.net News, it has been revealed that approximately 7,000 passengers flying with Finnair are about to face flight cancellations as a result of upcoming strikes at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL).
Following Finnair's statement on June 30, 2025, confirming the industrial action set for July 2, 2025, by the Finnish Aviation Union (IAU), it has been disclosed that vital ground services related to Finnair's flights will be affected. Around 100 flights operated by Finnair are expected to be cancelled, with additional disruptions looming as further strikes are planned later this month.
The IAU has outlined a series of industrial actions scheduled for July 4, 7, 16, 18, 21, and 23, 2025. A Finnair spokesperson mentioned, "The potential impacts of these actions are still being assessed, so Finnair’s Customer Service is unable to provide information about possible flight cancellations on those dates now. Finnair will notify affected customers directly of cancellations two days in advance."
Finnair anticipates that the operational impact of the strikes towards the middle and end of July will be less severe compared to the earlier dates, but customers with bookings on July 4 and 7, 2025, are already being advised to consider adjusting their travel dates and plans. This situation follows Finnair's earlier decision in June 2025 to cancel 143 flights in response to planned strikes on June 17, 2025. The airline has been grappling with a series of strikes in recent months.
Stay tuned for further updates on the evolving situation, as Finnair and its passengers navigate through the challenges posed by these industrial actions.
