JetBlue Airways has announced an extension to their flight suspension to Toussaint Louverture International Airport (PAP) in Port-au-Prince. This decision will see flights remaining halted until at least June 11, 2025, as conveyed by a spokesperson in a recent report by Miami Herald on March 6, 2025. Initially, the airline had revealed a suspension of all flights to Haiti up until the end of April 2025.

In light of the ongoing civil unrest in Haiti, the spokesperson shared with Miami Herald, "Due to the ongoing civil unrest in Haiti, we have made the decision to suspend all flights to and from the country. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and update our plans as necessary."

This development comes just ahead of the scheduled conclusion on March 12, 2025, of the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) flight ban to Haiti. The reopening of Toussaint Louverture International Airport in December 2024 by Haiti's government followed a one-month closure due to gunfire incidents targeting aircraft.

Following reports from US airlines such as Spirit Airlines, American Airlines, and JetBlue Airways on planes being struck by gunfire in Haitian airspace, the FAA had imposed a prohibition on all US air carriers and commercial operators from flying into Port-au-Prince. By January 23, 2025, US authorities highlighted that commercial air traffic to the airport "remained severely limited".

Despite this, select commercial airlines are maintaining daily flights between Cap-Haitien and Miami, Florida, as well as other Caribbean destinations. The prevailing gang violence in Haiti warrants concern with the US Department of State advising against travel to the country for US nationals, citing reasons such as kidnapping, crime, civil unrest, and restricted healthcare facilities.
