In exciting news, Kenya Airways has officially inked a fresh codeshare agreement with Air India, taking their existing partnership to greater heights. The collaboration, announced on January 30, 2025, promises a seamless travel experience for passengers journeying between Africa and India. With a shared commitment to customer satisfaction, the airlines are introducing a host of benefits, including single-ticket convenience, simplified connections, through-checked baggage, and reduced layover times.
Under this new agreement, Air India will designate its 'AI' code on Kenya Airways' Nairobi-Mumbai flights, offering travelers expanded connectivity to destinations such as Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Malé, Melbourne, and Singapore. Similarly, Kenya Airways passengers can now access Air India-operated flights between Delhi and Nairobi using the 'KQ' code, facilitating smoother travel experiences for passengers across Africa.
Nipun Aggarwal, Air India's Chief Commercial Officer, shared his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "Deepening our partnership with Kenya Airways aligns perfectly with Air India’s strategic vision of expanding our global footprint and strengthening our position in key markets."
In another significant development, Kenya Airways' Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) has received Part-145 Certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). This certification allows Kenya Airways to conduct maintenance services on European-registered aircraft, showcasing the airline's commitment to upholding international standards of safety and quality.
The Part-145 Certification process, which commenced in 2022, involved various improvements and enhancements to meet EASA requirements. With this achievement, Kenya Airways can now offer maintenance services for a range of aircraft types, including Embraer E190s and Boeing 737-700/800/900 models.
Expressing the airline's excitement about this milestone, the Group MD and CEO underscored the new business opportunities that lie ahead, positioning Kenya Airways as a leading provider of Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) services in Africa and beyond.
This recent progress marks a significant step forward for Kenya Airways, enhancing its capabilities and positioning it as a key player in the aviation industry. Stay tuned for more updates as Kenya Airways continues to soar to new heights in the world of air travel.
