Pilotcenter.net News has reported on the exciting announcement from Kenya Airways detailing their upcoming direct flights between Nairobi and London-Gatwick Airport for the summer of 2025. These new flights, set to begin on July 2, will operate three times a week on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, offering passengers a convenient option to travel between the two major cities.

The addition of this 4,218-mile route marks a significant expansion of Kenya Airways' services to London, complementing their existing daily flights to London-Heathrow. The flights to Gatwick will be operated by the carrier's modern Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, providing a comfortable two-class configuration for 234 passengers. While the Heathrow flights are renowned for their seamless onward connections, the Gatwick route is expected to cater more towards point-to-point travelers.

In response to the growing demand for travel between Africa and the UK, British Airways has also announced plans to increase their services to Nairobi, with frequency upgrades set to begin in June 2025. The airline will be transitioning to the larger Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on this route to accommodate the rising number of UK tourists visiting Kenya. This switch will result in a 62% increase in capacity, offering travelers more options and flexibility.

Furthermore, Uganda Airlines has recently introduced a new nonstop service connecting Entebbe in Uganda to London-Gatwick, reviving a direct link between the two countries. The move to Gatwick as their British gateway has positioned Uganda Airlines in direct competition with Kenya Airways for traffic to the region from London, presenting passengers with a wider range of choices and potentially lower airfares.

As airlines in the region expand their services and competition intensifies, travelers can expect to benefit from increased accessibility, improved connections, and potentially more competitive pricing. The surge in interest from airlines serving destinations across Africa and Europe signifies a positive trend for travelers seeking cost-effective and efficient travel options between the two regions.
