In exciting news, KLM-Royal Dutch Airlines recently announced its plans to expand its global reach for the summer of 2025. With a total of 161 destinations on the radar, including 95 cities in Europe and 66 intercontinental locations, travelers can expect to see the iconic all-blue KLM aircraft in more places than ever before.

For the upcoming IATA scheduling season from March 30, 2025, to October 25, 2025, KLM will be increasing its overall capacity by 4% compared to the previous year. However, the airline did mention facing challenges in their expansion efforts due to issues with aircraft spare parts availability and delays in pilot recruitment and training.

Adding to its impressive roster, KLM is set to launch new routes to San Diego in the United States, Georgetown in Guyana, and Hyderabad in India, expanding its intercontinental network. The airline will also continue its service to Portland on the US West Coast, originally introduced as a winter-only route in 2024/25.

Excitingly, KLM will be welcoming three new 787-10 wide-bodied aircraft into its fleet, bringing the total number of these planes to 14. These aircraft are configured with 38 business class seats, 28 premium economy seats, and 252 economy class seats.

Not stopping there, KLM will be increasing frequencies on various existing routes, such as flights to Kilimanjaro and Dar es Salaam in Tanzania, now operating daily compared to five times a week. Additionally, services to Osaka in Japan, Las Vegas in the US, and Rio de Janeiro in Brazil will see increased connectivity.

As part of its commitment to enhancing customer experience, KLM is also set to open bookings for services to three new European destinations: Ljubljana in Slovenia, Exeter in the UK, and Biarritz in France. Travelers heading to Milan from Amsterdam will enjoy the convenience of direct flights to downtown Linate Airport, as KLM shifts its operations away from Milan-Malpensa.

With a focus on fleet expansion, KLM is eagerly anticipating the arrival of additional Airbus A321neo narrowbodies, doubling its current fleet size. Travelers can also look forward to increased frequencies on select European routes, providing more options for those jetting off to popular destinations such as Porto in Portugal and Split in Croatia.
