Korean Air made an exciting announcement on January 26, 2025, revealing the newest addition to its fleet, the Airbus A350-900. The esteemed Korean flag carrier is gearing up to kick off operations with the state-of-the-art aircraft, starting with double daily flights between Seoul Incheon (ICN) and Osaka-Kansai (ITM), Japan. Following this, another A350-900 will begin daily services connecting the vibrant Korean capital to Fukuoka (FUK) in Japan.

In the pipeline are plans to extend the reach of Korean Air’s A350-900s to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in March, with Madrid-Barajas (MAD) and Rome Fiumicino (FCO) lined up for the latter part of the year. Adopting a two-cabin layout, Korean Air's A350-900s will accommodate a total of 311 passengers, with 28 seats in the luxurious business class, labeled as “Prestige Class”, and 283 seats in the economy class.

Notably, Korean Air's engagement with the A350 program transcends that of a mere operator. The airline’s internal Aerospace Division has taken the reins in designing and manufacturing crucial components of the A350, including the forward, aft, and bulk cargo doors. These initial two A350-900 aircraft mark the beginning of an extensive order that Korean Air placed with Airbus in March 2024 for 33 A350-family planes, comprising 27 A350-1000s and six A350-900s.

Exciting times lie ahead for Korean Air as it ushers in a new era of travel comfort and innovation with the introduction of the Airbus A350-900 to its already impressive fleet. Stay tuned as more destinations come within reach onboard these cutting-edge aircraft.
