Pilotcenter.net News has reported that Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) has achieved an important milestone by obtaining the ISO 37001:2016 Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) certification. This accolade makes MAG the first airline group in Malaysia to receive such recognition, showcasing the company's unwavering commitment to combat bribery, fraud, and corruption within its operations.

The certification process was no small feat and involved a rigorous corruption risk assessment, the establishment of a dedicated Working Group Committee, and the development of a comprehensive ABMS framework. Additionally, MAG conducted 16 training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns across key business functions to instill a culture of integrity throughout the organization.

Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, MAG Group Managing Director, underscored the significance of the certification, emphasizing that it's more than just a formality. In his own words, Ismail stated, “It is a firm declaration of our zero-tolerance stance against bribery, fraud, and corruption." He further highlighted that the ISO 37001 certification reinforces the stringent controls embedded in all operational aspects of the business, from procurement to policymaking.

The certification's scope currently encompasses group-level functions related to governance, risk, compliance, sustainability, and leadership, with specific controls aimed at mitigating bribery risks in crucial areas like procurement, vendor engagement, and third-party interactions. To further enhance transparency and accountability, MAG established a whistleblowing platform accessible to the public to report any suspected misconduct.

Looking ahead, MAG plans to maintain the integrity of its ABMS by certifying more employees, including the two existing Certified Integrity Officers (CeIOs), across various departments. This proactive approach aims to ensure that the organization remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of integrity and promptly addressing any instances of non-compliance.

This significant achievement underscores MAG's unwavering commitment to ethical business practices, setting a notable precedent in the aviation industry. In a landscape where trust and governance are paramount, MAG's dedication to integrity serves as a cornerstone for sustainable business operations and reinforces its position as a leader in the aviation sector.
