Pilotcenter.net News: Mexicana de Aviación, the government-run carrier of Mexico that recently made a comeback, has welcomed the arrival of its first Embraer E2 regional jet out of the 20 ordered. This milestone marks the beginning of Mexicana's presence in the Mexican aviation industry, showcasing its growth with new aircraft and an expanding network of routes. The delivery also signifies the increasing influence of the E2 series in Latin America.

The deal for the 20 E2 jets, consisting of E190-E2 and E195-E2 aircraft, was unveiled in June 2024 as a strategic move by Mexico's state-owned carrier to boost connectivity and operational efficiency. Mexicana's commitment to enhancing its services was evidenced by the on-time delivery of the first jet, kicking off a series of deliveries scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025. The E190-E2 will feature 108 seats, while the larger E195-E2 will accommodate 132 passengers, both in a single-class configuration with a 2-by-2 seating layout.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Mexicana's CEO, Leobardo Bojórquez, remarked, "The E2’s performance, economics, and passenger appeal make it the perfect aircraft to support our growth strategy. We are excited to bring this new level of service and efficiency to our customers." Embraer's President and CEO of Commercial Aviation, Arjan Meijer, added, "The E2 is the most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft in the world, and it’s ideally suited to Mexicana’s network and sustainability goals."

The decision to select the E190-E2 was influenced by its quiet operation, reduced emissions, and economic advantages. Mexicana's fleet of E2 jets will benefit from Embraer's support services, ensuring operational reliability and high aircraft availability from the start.

Mexicana's reemergence in 2023 marked a fresh start for the airline, backed by a new vision to cater to Mexico's aviation market. Having ceased operations in 2010, the carrier rebranded and relaunched with the support of the Mexican Defence Ministry's expertise and resources. Mexicana aims to expand its services beyond Mexico with its new Embraer fleet, eyeing routes to destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America.

Looking forward, Mexicana is in talks with several major U.S. airports for future routes, targeting cities like Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Houston, New York, Atlanta, and Miami. Stay tuned as Mexicana paves the way for enhanced connectivity and travel experiences across the Americas.
