Mokulele Airlines, the lifeline for many Hawaiian island communities, has made the decision to ground its fleet once again, citing maintenance concerns and an abundance of caution. This move comes just five months after a similar issue led to flight cancellations for the carrier.

Pilotcenter.net News has learned that on January 15, 2024, the Hawaii Department of Transportation confirmed the pause in Mokulele Airlines flights, with the carrier's own website indicating disruptions due to ongoing aircraft inspections. It's important to note that Mokulele Airlines flights are actually operated by Southern Airways Express, a subsidiary of Surf Air Mobility.

The regional carrier, which utilizes a fleet of 11 208EX Grand Caravans to carry out over 100 daily flights, plays a crucial role in connecting various Hawaiian airports including HNL, OGG, LUP, HNM, KOA, MUF, MKK, JHM, and LNY. Back in August 2024, a portion of Mokulele Airlines' fleet was grounded for maintenance checks.

While specific details about the current maintenance issues remain undisclosed, affected passengers are advised to reach out to the airline directly to arrange for alternative travel plans. Stay tuned to Pilotcenter.net News for further updates on this developing situation.
