Spirit Airlines has appointed Dave Davis as their new President and CEO in a strategic move to steer the airline back on course following the successful completion of a Chapter 11 restructuring. Davis, slated to officially assume his new role on April 21, 2025, brings with him a wealth of experience, having previously held roles at Northwest Airlines and most recently as President and CFO at Sun Country Airlines. According to Robert Milton, Chairman of Spirit Airlines, Davis’ background makes him the ideal candidate to lead the airline through its ongoing transformation.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Davis stated, "I'm thrilled to join Spirit at this pivotal moment in the company’s journey," eager to work alongside the dedicated team of over 11,000 employees. Alongside Davis, the airline has also introduced Duncan Dee as the Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications, responsible for handling both internal and external communications. Moreover, Trey Urbahn has been appointed as the Senior Commercial Advisor, tasked with providing invaluable guidance on commercial strategies and refining onboard services.
These strategic leadership changes come in the wake of the previous President and CEO, Ted Christie’s departure, as Spirit Airlines grapples with financial hurdles and continues its restructuring process. Despite these challenges, the airline recently marked a significant milestone on March 12, 2025, by successfully emerging from Chapter 11 restructuring following the approval of its reorganization plan by a U.S. court, bolstered by a substantial $350 million equity investment from existing investors.
