Etihad Airways recently unveiled its exclusive US Preclearance Lounge at Zayed International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi, debuting on December 30, 2024. This elegant retreat caters to eligible passengers, strategically placed near the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Preclearance facility. Serving as a sanctuary for travelers to relax post-US entry formalities and pre-flight departure, the lounge indulges guests with an array of beverages and light dining choices. Moreover, guests on specified flights can revel in the convenience of boarding directly from the lounge. Travelers in Etihad’s premium cabins – The Residence, First Class, and Business Class – in addition to Platinum and Emerald Etihad Guest members, hold privileges for lounge access. Etihad Airways also offers access for purchase, subject to availability, ensuring broader accessibility.

By clearing all US customs and immigration procedures pre-departure in Abu Dhabi, passengers touch down in the US as domestic travelers, expediting their arrival process. Upon landing, guests can swiftly pick up their baggage and proceed to their onward journeys hassle-free. John Wright, Chief Operations & Guest Officer at Etihad Airways, expressed enthusiasm about this development, remarking, “This new lounge signifies another step towards delivering exceptional experiences to our guests.”

With the fusion of premium lounge services and the convenience of US Preclearance, Etihad Airways aims to enhance the travel experience through Abu Dhabi for its patrons even before they step onto the aircraft. Notably, Zayed International stands out as the exclusive Middle East hub offering this time-saving amenity. Currently, Etihad operates nonstop flights to four US destinations – Boston Logan International Airport (BOS), Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport (ORD), New York’s John F Kennedy Airport (JFK), and Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). Plans are underway to introduce service to Atlanta by July 2025, solidifying the airline’s presence in the North American market.
