Norse Atlantic Airways has unveiled plans to introduce a brand-new direct route connecting London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) with Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Thailand. The airline is set to kick off these non-stop flights toward the end of 2025. In addition to the London-Bangkok service, Norse will also operate flights between the Thai capital and its bases in Stockholm and Oslo for the upcoming winter season in 2025/2026.

The maiden flight from London-Gatwick to Bangkok is scheduled for October 26, 2025, with up to four weekly flights using Norse’s fleet of Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. London-Gatwick stands as the airline’s sole UK base and a crucial hub connecting European cities to destinations across North America, Asia, and South Africa.

This move marks a considerable advancement for Norse Atlantic Airways in the UK market, with the carrier expressing enthusiasm about expanding their operations. Bjørn Tore Larsen, the CEO and Founder of Norse Atlantic Airways, expressed excitement about the new London to Bangkok route, stating, “We’re thrilled to introduce direct flights between London Gatwick and Bangkok, a top choice among our travelers. This addition not only strengthens our existing network in Asia but also enhances our connections from London Gatwick to destinations across the Atlantic and South Africa.”

Throughout its history, Norse has primarily focused on transatlantic flights from London and Oslo, but has recently begun to add more US-bound flights from various European cities like Rome, Berlin, and Athens. The airline is currently running flights between London-Gatwick and Cape Town for the winter season of 2024-25.

A significant development for Norse was the agreement to lease out up to six of its eight Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners to another carrier for the majority of 2025. While the lessee was described as a “reputable international airline,” rumors suggest it might be India’s IndiGo gearing up for long-haul flights to Amsterdam and London from Delhi and Mumbai. As a result of the fleet leasing, Bangkok is poised to become a focal point for Norse’s operations for the winter season of 2025-26, potentially leading to adjustments in US routes.

The strategic move to expand services to Thailand will undoubtedly impact Norse’s overall route network, making this development one to watch closely.
