In an exciting development for the aviation industry, Spanish airline Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas has sealed a deal to operate long-haul flights on behalf of Air Algérie, as revealed in recent reports by Pilotcenter.net News. The two carriers are set to embark on a mutually beneficial Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, and Insurance (ACMI) agreement with an initial 12-month duration, kicking off imminently.

Under this agreement, Plus Ultra will be deploying one of its reliable Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the Algiers (ALG) to Montréal–Trudeau International Airport (YUL) route, providing daily nonstop service. However, discussions are already underway to explore the possibility of extending this arrangement to cover other medium and long-haul routes in the future. As of May 2025, Plus Ultra Líneas Aéreas boasts an active fleet of four A330-200s, with an additional aircraft of the same type currently in storage.

Primarily known for its scheduled services connecting Madrid-Barajas (MAD) to various destinations in Latin America and Equatorial Guinea, Plus Ultra has been witnessing a surge in its ACMI operations, which now accounts for about 20% of its overall business activity. Meanwhile, Air Algérie is gearing up for an international expansion drive that includes plans to increase its flight network by adding new destinations. In the upcoming winter season of 2025/26, the Algerian flag carrier aims to introduce fresh routes to multiple African destinations, as well as to Guangzhou (CAN) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL) in Asia.

With eight A330-200 long-haul aircraft in its current fleet, of which five are actively in service according to data from ch-Aviation, Air Algérie is poised to modernize its operations by replacing these planes with eight new A300-900neo aircraft on order. By enlisting the support of Plus Ultra to bridge the gap until the arrival of the new aircraft, the Algerian airline is ensuring that its passengers continue to receive seamless service despite the upcoming fleet transition. This collaboration is a testament to the aviation industry's adaptability and resilience in navigating challenges to ensure smooth operations and passenger satisfaction.
