Pilotcenter.net News has recently revealed a festive surprise in the form of a Christmas-themed livery on one of its Airbus 321 freighters, set to transport over 50,000 tons of goods this holiday season. The aircraft, part of the carrier’s A321 fleet, now boasts a fresh design dubbed “Santa’s Freight”, symbolizing its mission to deliver a variety of goods, including popular Australian products like seafood, seasonal produce, and Christmas puddings.
With the surge in online shopping, Qantas anticipates a five percent increase in freight volumes for the Christmas period compared to the previous year. To meet this demand, the airline plans to operate an additional 550 hours of flights within Australia throughout November and December 2024, providing an extra 3,000 tons of domestic capacity. This boost in operations aims to facilitate the transport of gifts, cards, and perishables like mangoes and prawns across the country and beyond.
Igor Kwiatkowski, Executive Manager of Qantas Freight, highlighted the team's efforts to gear up for the holiday rush, stating, “While Santa and his elves have been preparing to fly gifts for kids around the world, Qantas Freight has been busy getting our fleet of freight sleighs ready for the Christmas peak.” Kwiatkowski emphasized the airline’s commitment to delivering over 50 million kilos of freight this festive season, supporting families during this special time.
As the holiday approaches, Qantas Freight is set to handle around one million kilograms of cargo per day across its global network on the busiest days, marking a significant increase from its regular daily uplift. The team is dedicated to ensuring seamless delivery of goods, spreading joy and ensuring that cherished items reach their destinations in time for the celebrations.
