Qantas suggests Jetstar flights from Perth to Manila and Brisbane to Cebu

Pilotcenter.net News reports that Qantas is gearing up to broaden its presence in the Philippines through its subsidiary, Jetstar Airways. The renowned Australian airline is eyeing new flight routes that will connect Perth Airport to Manila International Airport and Brisbane Airport to Cebu International Airport. The proposed plan, outlined by Qantas’ Executive Manager for Policy, Industry and International Affairs, Anna Pritchard, suggests operating these routes three times a week, utilizing the Airbus 321neo aircraft with a seating capacity of 232.

In a letter submitted to the International Air Services Commission, Qantas is seeking approval for 696 seats per week on these routes, along with unrestricted capacity on the Philippine sector. The detailed proposal, dated March 20, 2025, was shared by The Filipino Times via Facebook, sparking excitement among aviation enthusiasts.

The carrier aims to kickstart operations on both the Cebu and Manila routes by February 8, 2026, and the services can be executed by either Qantas, Jetstar, or any other Australian airline under the Qantas umbrella. Currently, Qantas already operates 11 weekly flights to Manila from Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport and Brisbane Airport, showing its commitment to strengthening its links with the Philippines.
